An Enchanting History of the founding of the Shumi Winery

Nestled in the picturesque region of Tsinandali, Kakheti, Shumi Winery, founded in 1997, captures the essence of Georgian viticulture. "Shumi" translates to "the best wine" in ancient Georgian, embodying the winery's commitment to excellence. The mythical griffin, Faskundji, serves as their emblem, symbolizing wisdom and strength.

Milestones of Excellence:

From its inception, Shumi Winery embraced organic and biodynamic practices, setting a benchmark in sustainable viticulture. In 2001, a state-of-the-art facility was built, followed by the creation of an ethnographic pavilion in 2002, marking the winery's foray into enotourism. By 2003, Shumi boasted the largest private ampelographic collection, showing the rich diversity of Georgian grape varieties. The establishment of Georgia's first wine museum in 2005 further solidified their cultural significance. In 2020, Shumi's dedication to quality earned them the title of Georgia's best producer at MUNDUS VINI.
