Château Buera Saperavi Qvevri is a dry red wine made from 100% Saperavi, Georgia’s flagship indigenous red grape, using the traditional Kakhetian qvevri method. It comes from Château Buera, a winery in the Napareuli micro-zone of Kakheti founded in 2018 by Goga Maisuradze, creator of the Lopota Spa Resort, and today run by his family from a Renaissance-style château overlooking the Greater Caucasus.

The grapes are fermented naturally with wild yeasts and macerated on their skins for one month in qvevri – the clay vessels at the heart of Georgia’s 8,000-year winemaking tradition, recognised by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage. No synthetic chemicals are used in the vineyard, and the wine is made with minimal intervention to let the character of Kakhetian Saperavi speak for itself.

Tasting notes

Deep, dark red in the glass, with expressive aromas of ripe black cherry, plum and dark berries. Qvevri maceration gives the palate a rich, textured structure, with firm, ripe tannins, fresh acidity and a long, earthy finish.

Food pairing and serving

Serve at 16–18°C; decanting for 30 minutes helps it open up. A natural partner for grilled and roast red meats, lamb, game, mushroom dishes and aged cheeses.
