Château Mukhrani Qvevri Amber - Rkatsiteli, Goruli Mtsvane

Château Mukhrani Qvevri White is a dry Georgian orange (amber) wine from Kartli, made from Rkatsiteli and Goruli Mtsvane grown in the Mukhrani valley and fermented on the skins in traditional clay qvevri. It comes from Château Mukhrani, the historic royal estate founded by Prince Ivane Mukhranbatoni, whose first wines were released in 1878.

The blend pairs the structure of Rkatsiteli, Georgia’s most widely planted white grape, with the floral elegance of Goruli Mtsvane, a rare variety native to Kartli. Hand-picked grapes are blended directly in qvevri, fermented naturally and left on their skins for six months – the ancient Georgian method that gives orange wine its colour, texture and gentle tannins. The wine is then aged for eight months in old oak barrels and stainless steel, and rests at least a year in bottle before release.

Tasting notes

An elegant, complex nose of ripe apricot, peach, pear and lemon, with floral, herbal and lightly spiced honey notes. The palate shows peach and pear fruit with subtle honey, well-integrated tannins, a gentle nutty bitterness and a cool hint of eucalyptus, finishing long and fresh.

Food pairing and serving

Serve lightly chilled at 12–15°C, ideally opened 20–30 minutes beforehand. Excellent with salmon, tuna and other rich fish, roast poultry, white fish and vegetable-led dishes such as crisp salads.
