Château Mukhrani Tavkveri is a dry red wine made entirely from Tavkveri, one of the oldest and rarest indigenous red grape varieties of Georgia’s Kartli region. It comes from Château Mukhrani, the historic royal estate in the Mukhrani valley founded in 1878 by Prince Ivane Mukhranbatoni, who pioneered European-style winemaking with native Georgian grapes.
Tavkveri is far less known than Saperavi, but in the hands of Château Mukhrani it shows its own distinctive character: a fresh, softly structured red with bright fruit and gentle tannins. It is an easy introduction to Georgian red wine for anyone who enjoys lighter, fruit-forward reds.
Tasting notes
Intense red with bright reflections. The nose offers red fruit with floral and spicy notes. On the palate it is smooth and medium-bodied, with ripe red fruit, a gentle sweetness of fruit, crisp freshness and soft tannins, finishing fresh and with good length.
Food pairing and serving
Serve slightly cool at 14–16°C. A versatile food wine: try it with roast chicken, turkey, pork, charcuterie, tomato-based pasta, mushroom dishes or Georgian chakapuli and khachapuri.
